The S8 Piston Rod is a core mechanical component in the ASAB S8 fluid section, transferring drive movement into the pump to generate fluid displacement and pressure. It must remain straight, smooth, and correctly aligned to deliver consistent stroke action, maintain seal life, and keep the sprayer running smoothly under load.
If the sprayer is showing uneven stroke feel, premature packing wear, fluid leaks at the packings, or pressure instability that returns quickly after seal changes, a worn or damaged piston rod is often the underlying cause. Replacing the rod helps restore proper alignment and sealing performance—so the pump isn’t working against itself.
Key features
-
Transfers drive motion into the pump for reliable stroke and pressure generation
-
Helps maintain correct packing alignment and consistent sealing performance
-
Ideal replacement when the rod is scored, pitted, bent, or worn, or if packings fail prematurely
-
Suits ASAB S8 pump assemblies (configuration dependent)
What’s included
-
1 x S8 Piston Rod (service replacement)
Safety Check
-
Relieve all fluid pressure before opening the fluid section (follow the sprayer’s pressure relief procedure).
-
Isolate power (unplug/disconnect) before working on the pump or drive components.
-
Wear PPE: eye protection and chemical-resistant gloves—especially during flushing and solvent handling.
-
Pinch/moving parts hazard: keep hands clear of the drive and linkage areas during checks and reassembly.
-
Restart carefully: prime at low pressure first, confirm smooth operation and no leaks, then return to normal operating pressure.
